What is TNR?
TNR stands for “Trap/Neuter/Release”. From February to November, HOPE holds a TNR clinic once a month to spay/neuter feral, stray, and barn cats.
How It Works
Whether you have a small or a large colony of cats, please make an appointment with Hope Spay Neuter Clinic before trapping. Once an appointment is secured, visit our clinic to borrow humane traps, if needed.
For several days before the scheduled appointment, traps are set where the cats usually eat. At this time, trap doors are secured with zip ties so they stay open. Food is placed ONLY in the traps so the cats get used to eating inside of them.
The day before or the day of surgery, traps are set – this time so the doors will close when the cat enters. Once the cat is trapped, cover with a sheet so the animal is calm.
The cats are then brought to the HOPE clinic where our volunteers will prepare them for surgery. After surgery, cats typically remain at the clinic overnight where they safely and comfortably recover.
The caregiver returns the next morning to retrieve their cats. The cats can then be released back to the environment from where they were trapped.
The cost for this service is
$25.00 per cat. Financial assistance may be available, please discuss this with Marie Preston, TNR Co-Ordinator when you make your appointment. Please call HOPE Spay Neuter Clinic for an appointment at
